Lesson Topic: Sound and pictures

Main aim:

  • By the end of the lesson students will get introduced to a new text about old and new machines that plays music.

Subsidiary aim:

• Children will understand and learn new vocabulary, listen to the new text, practice reading the information and answer the oral comprehensive questions.

Lead - in	show poster of old  and new machines that plays music and ask students: What do you see in the pictures? Can you name any of the objects? Have you seen such kind of machines?	poster	teacher - students	5 min.
Vocabulary input	Use pad let presentation and explain the new word, teacher points to each picture and student reads the word and the information about the word. https://padlet.com/eleniko/aw1xkzpgxkf3	digital support padlet.com	teacher students	5-7min.
Pre reading Reading the text Further practice in listening and reading	Children listen to the text and follow in their books. Children read the text paragraph by paragraph and translate with the help of the teacher. Children highlight the new words and write them down. Teacher asks questions to find out if they understand the content. Teacher puts flashcards on the board and the word cards scrambled underneath. Children volunteer to match the objects and word cards. Class reads all the labels again.	CD track 46 textbook dictionary flashcards word cards	teacher -students	3min. 15min. 4min. 3min.
Controlled check	Teacher divides the class into groups and gives each group a pack of cards one by one and students say the names of the items on the cards.  If they remember the names of machines they place the card in front of them, if not, they put it back under the pack of cards. Feedback and homework	Teacher asks questions to make sure students understood the new items from the text Teacher encourages the class to learn the selected vocabulary from unit 5 dictionary 3.		teacher -student	2-3min.
